Hotel Folio
The itemized statement of all charges during a hotel stay — room rate, taxes, parking, F&B, incidentals — dated by night.
A folio is the itemized statement of all charges incurred during a hotel stay. Unlike a one-shot receipt, a folio accumulates charges day-by-day for the full duration of the stay and gets settled at checkout.
A typical folio includes: nightly room rate (one line per night), taxes (state, occupancy, city, sometimes a destination fee), parking charges, F&B (restaurant, room service, mini-bar), incidentals (gym, spa, business center). Each charge is dated.
Folios are letter-size (8.5×11") because they often run 1-2 pages for multi-night stays. Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, and IHG all email PDF folios at checkout in addition to providing a printed copy if requested.
On the folio: the running balance can show payment authorizations (typically the first night’s rate held on the credit card at check-in) before the final settlement. The "Folio Balance" at the bottom is what was actually charged when checkout was processed.
