Detailed differences

Premium grade names are different

Shell's premium 93-octane fuel is branded "V-Power Nitro+". Chevron's premium is "Techron Premium" (referencing their patented fuel additive). On a receipt, getting the premium grade name right is a brand-specific authenticity detail.

Both bake fuel tax into per-gallon pricing

Unlike retail receipts where state sales tax is a separate line, gas pump receipts include federal and state motor fuel taxes in the per-gallon price posted at the pump. There's no separate tax line on Shell or Chevron receipts.

Loyalty discounts use different abbreviations

Shell prints "FR DISCOUNT" (Fuel Rewards) for per-gallon discounts. Chevron prints "TXC DISC" (Texaco/Chevron). Both reduce the per-gallon price; the receipt math reflects the discounted total.
