Tier / Status (Loyalty)
The level a customer has reached in a loyalty program based on annual spend or visits. Higher tiers unlock bigger perks.
Tier status (or "elite status") is a loyalty program’s level system: customers progress through tiers based on annual spend or qualifying activity, and each tier unlocks better perks.
Examples: Sephora’s Beauty Insider has 3 tiers (Insider → VIB → Rouge) based on annual spend ($0, $350, $1000). Marriott Bonvoy has 6 tiers (Member → Silver → Gold → Platinum → Titanium → Ambassador). Delta SkyMiles has 5 tiers (Member → Silver → Gold → Platinum → Diamond).
On receipts, the tier prints near the member ID: "Bonvoy Platinum", "Beauty Insider Rouge", "Diamond Medallion". Tier-specific perks may appear as $0.00 line items: a Marriott Platinum getting "Late Checkout: $0.00 (Platinum benefit)", a Sephora Rouge getting "Free Shipping: $0.00 (Rouge benefit)".
For receipt authenticity, the printed tier should match the program: Marriott uses "Platinum Elite", not "Platinum"; Sephora uses "Rouge", not "Diamond"; Delta uses "Diamond Medallion", not just "Diamond". Get the exact terminology right.
