Trip ID

A unique identifier for a single rideshare trip. Uber uses 36-character UUIDs; Lyft uses 24-character alphanumeric.

A Trip ID is a globally unique identifier assigned to each rideshare ride. It’s used for customer support, dispute resolution, and analytics.

Uber Trip IDs are 36-character UUIDs (Universally Unique Identifiers) in the standard 8-4-4-4-12 hyphen format: "f47ac10b-58cc-4372-a567-0e02b2c3d479". Lyft Ride IDs are 24-character alphanumeric strings without hyphens.

On Uber email receipts, the Trip ID appears at the bottom — either as plain text or encoded into a "View this trip" deep link to the app. The same ID appears in customer support tickets, in the rider’s trip history, and in the driver’s app.

For receipt design, generating a properly formatted Trip ID is one of the highest-impact authenticity details. A "12345" trip number is an instant fake; a real-format UUID looks legitimate at a glance.
